Bulletin No 003 – Qualifying Races & Standards
Dear Triathletes
Within the next couple of days we will publish the Commonwealth Games selection criteria and process on the Jersey Triathlon Club website. This is a DRAFT for your feedback, but we aim to finalise and issue to the Commonwealth Games Association by 1 January 2016
These are the qualifying races for 2016: At least three of the following draft legal races: Rennes Triathlon, Elite Blenheim Triathlon, Elite Windsor Triathlon, Elite London Triathlon, Elite Garmin Barcelona Triathlon or representing Great Britain at any Elite ITU race (WTS, ITU Cup or Continental Cup), and an optional
We do welcome comments on the ‘qualifying races’ and if you have any suggestions to add to the list please let us know. We would urge all Commonwealth hopefuls must enter the ‘qualifying races’ as soon as possible or risk not being able to participate on races that are critical to selection.
REGISTERED ATHLETES
We have a list of Commonwealth hopefuls and have notified that list to the Commonwealth Games Association. This is the last and final call for expressions of interest. I have set-up a google-form for you to update your details (but I think I have anyones!)

LOGS BOOKS AND UPDATES
We intend that all our athletes use the “training peaks” log book system and the 12 weekly reports to Commonwealth Games Association [administrator@cgaj.org] will be based on a summary output from this system for each athlete.

In my Bulletin 001 I mentioned all Commonwealth Athletes “should” maintain a log of training,
testing, performance etc., This is personal to you. But you should have one.
TRAINING LOG AND

All Commonwealth
Athletes “MUST” submit a summary overview of their training every 12 weeks to
be allowed to continue as a Commonwealth hopeful. You MUST complete these and
submit to administrator@cgaj.org on
the following dates.

The overview needs to be simple for administrator@cgaj.org They just want
evidence of your training, testing, performance etc. All the real detail will
be in your personal logbook, spreadsheet, or web-application [what-ever you
use?!].
A SUGGESTION FOR AMENDMENT
Based on Paul du Feu’s [Commonwealth Games Association]
suggestion I have outlined a possible summary overview. This is just a
suggestion for discussion! We need to work together to agree what this should
look like and what it should contain.

Dear Athlete
As Jersey Triathlon Team Manager my role is to keep you up-to-date on any admin, paperwork or procedures relating to Commonwealth Games Gold Coast 2018.
I have all your names and email addresses and will periodically let you know key issues, events and actions. I intend to do this BOTH by email and also publish on a private blog, so that you can look back at previous notes without having to trawl through old emails.
I will not mention athletes names since we do not want to compromise confidentiality or excite tre media or others about potential athletes. Please ensure that we keep our athletes names confidential.
I attended a Commonwealth Games Gold Coast meeting today and here are the key points..
PRINCIPLES AND ELIGIBILITY
I have a .PDF I can email to anyone interested but in essense the “principles” are about competeing with integrity and the “eligibility” is about being Jersey born, of a Jersey parent, or in Jersey for > 5 years and a British passport holder. Please contact me if this is a problem for you.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
My role is Jersey Triathlon Team Manager as outlined above. I am not your coach, but I am here to help. Nick Saunders, I and the Triathlon Committee are meeting on 17 December to make sure that we are all aligned and work as a team. If you have any queries please contact me.
ATHLETES
We have notified Commonwealth Games Gold Coast your names. I will keep you updated.

Ideally we should all use the same summary overview sheet. We need to work together to agree what this should look like and what it should contain.
OTHER MUST DO ITEMS
All Commonwealth Athletes “MUST” compete off-Island as much as possible and to the highest standard possible.
TESTING
Jersey Triathlon must advise Commonwealth Games Association details, dates, times and venues for all testing.
All Commonwealth Athletes “MUST” attend testing (to be discussed and scheduled with Nick Saunders and the Triathlon Committee) I or Nick will advise dates, times etc. Make sure you keep a log of all tests and their results. You might need this information for eligibility / standards purposes.
SUPPORT
Jersey Triathlon must advise Commonwealth Games Association of all any any support needed. If this is administrative, please liaise via me, if this is about coiaching, training, performance etc., please liaise via Nick Saunders.
ATHLETE DAY
All Commonwealth Athletes “MUST” attend “athlete days”. Currently these are all-day on 23 April and mid-October 2016 (to be confirmed)
